I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Health and Human Services. My hands-on experience in a developmental psychology research lab and advanced statistical training through the Psychology Honors Program piqued my interest in the field of psychology, leading me to pursue graduate training.
As a doctoral student at the University of South Carolina, I was involved in several research projects through the Youth Empowerment in Schools and Systems (YESS) Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Samuel McQuillin. My research focused on advancing the science and practice of cultivating nurturing communities for students in schools. I successfully defended my dissertation in June 2023 and completed my predoctoral internship at the Florida State University Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Consulting Center (FSU MDC), an APA-accredited program, in August 2024.
I recently joined the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Elon University as an Assistant Professor. I look forward to continuing my program of school-engaged research and pursuing opportunities to mentor undergraduate students!
My approach to clinical work is flexible and integrates tenets of clinical, school, and community psychology. I have experience working with children and families across diverse school (e.g., low-resource Title 1, public, charter) and community-based settings.
I completed my predoctoral clinical internship at the Florida State University Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Consulting Center (FSU MDC), an APA-accredited internship site where I practiced in both school and community-based settings.
Because I believe that research and clinical work should inform and advance one another, I strive to develop treatment plans and conduct assessments that are guided by client characteristics and preferences, as well as the best available research evidence. My experiences range from delivering evidence-based interventions in individual and group settings to conducting both psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments and providing consultation services to individuals (e.g., parents, teachers) and larger systems (e.g., national mentoring organizations). I have also greatly enjoyed supporting and supervising peers and practicum students throughout their training experiences, and I look forward to taking on more formal supervisory roles in the future.
